UK universities are globally recognised for their academic excellence, research, and high standards of education. Many universities with long-standing traditions consistently rank in the top 100 in worldwide rankings each year.
For Turkish students, studying at a university in the UK becomes achievable with the right consultancy services. Due to the differences between the Turkish and British education systems, students are generally expected to complete a one-year preparatory course called the Foundation Programme. This preparation helps students adapt to the UK education system and fill any academic gaps. However, in the post-pandemic period, it has become much easier to start university through online courses without necessarily completing the Foundation year.
Undergraduate education in the UK typically lasts for 3 years, and each academic year is divided into 3 terms. The academic year usually begins in September or October and ends in June. (Note: Postgraduate programmes generally last for 1 year.)
To be admitted to university, you must first receive an offer letter from a UK university. Then, to apply for a student visa, you are required to demonstrate financial capability or sponsorship to cover tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses.
Required Documents for University Applications
- High school diploma and transcripts
- Proof of English proficiency, such as IELTS (6.0–7.5) or TOEFL (80–107)
- Reference letters from teachers highlighting your academic achievements and personal qualities
- Statement of purpose explaining why you wish to pursue undergraduate studies in the UK
The application process usually begins about a year before the start of the academic year. If your English level does not meet the required standard, you will need to enrol in a Foundation Programme.
